Cold
Feet.
Heartbeat.
Heel then toe.
Muffled footfalls, slow
To sound, die within the wet wood.

Heel,
Toe.
Come, go.
Dying tread –
Muffled sound, then dead
Stop. Heart not beating as it should.

One,
Two.
Each shoe
Falling twice.
Heel, toe - still suffice
To prompt the muffled heart to beat.

Beat,
Heart.
Impart
To each heel
Bloodsap. Let them feel
Each muffled slap the toes complete.
