Upon The Misrepresentation of Fairies

“What did you expect fairies to do?” – Hoggle in Labyrinth

Waft and wiggle continuously.
Tiny alchemical apparitions,
ethereal astral beings,
constantly remaining aflutter with
pure joy and sprinkles,
conjuring pleasure with pouty faces.

Partially true.

But fairies bite. They hound and scowl.
On a bad day, they fight the moon
with bow and arrow and catapult.

They don’t exist to satisfy your smoky
dreamy mist-filled forest fantasies.

The whole truth:
They exist because they are.
