Into The Machine

I fold myself
into myself
tuck in stray hairs
an unrepentant pinky toe
other bits of myself
that stick out

because if I let
the machine fold me
it hurts much more

the machine will fold you
perfectly
but to fit into the machine
you must be perfect

the machine has
specifications
with no tolerances
the machine will kill you
but you'll be perfect
