Dark Matter
…dark matter outweighs visible matter
by approximately 5 to 1. Wikipedia
We can’t observe it, but believe it’s there
from subtle gravitational effects,
from nagging little details that don’t square
in how galaxies spin and light deflects;
in fact our calculations indicate
there’s much more of it than the visible kind,
a shadow world of enigmatic weight
with which ours is unwittingly entwined.
In most religions, there is interplay
between light and dark forces, thought to be
in balance, with light holding dark at bay,
but studying it scientifically
darkness seems the stronger of the two,
which from human history rings true.
