Programme Note
Stand here and listen: it’s the music of the spheres.
Like the sky, we’re aglow with the music of the spheres.
Are we forever happy humming only common notes?
Is this how we link to the acoustic of the spheres?
I wish I’d brought a decent book to read: unlike some,
I’m really sick and tired of the music of the spheres…
The libretto is written. The opera is under way.
We stand stage left amidst a chorus thick with spears.
But no one promised us a universe in perfect tune.
We mustn’t be too picky in the choosing of our spheres.
