No Limericks, Please

The limerick form is abhorrent:
it triggers your words in a torrent
of ill-conceived phrases
whose syntax amazes
with twists that seem clever, but aren't.

The limerick form is oppressive;
its strictures are surely excessive.
One's rhyming is forced
and often divorced
from the Sense that would make it expressive.
