Driving through Saltaire,
the trill of a distant car alarm sears
through the opening theme
of Debussy's La Mer...

I discoursed with the traffic lights
and nearby mini mart
about the gift of epiphany
and its inroads to the Eternal
quoting Rimbaud:

'Elle est retrouvée.
Quoi ? - L'Eternité.
C'est la mer allée
Avec le soleil.'

'Un coup de dès mêlée
Avec les trouvailles...'
I added, sotto voce,
to the fish shop at the roundabout.
